managing blog entry headers and sub-headers

I am developing my own blog and want your opinions on the best way to store headings and sub-headings.

I use the <h1> for my Web site’s title and do an image replacement. I use the <h2> for the page title. So the <h3> is typically where I start the headings for a page in my database entries. So I have always started my blog entries with <h3>, and used <h4> and <h5> if necessary.

Is this the best way to handle this? I think about in the future needing to change this for some reason, so all the headings in the database will be off one way or another. Seems like too much to change later if there was a better solution now.

@JDM71488authorJul 25.2007 — This might be helpful to those who don't use wordpress and have their own cms systems.

I tried googling about managing headers withing blog posts, but no luck. I took a look a smashing magazine (a well established, wordpress-based blog) and found that they do the same thing as me. They use <h2> for the blog entry title and <h3>s in the content.

So if I ever decide to move the entries to a different system, it seems that they would transfer with ease.
