my webpages look strange in IE

http://jeugdnostalgie.net/Jeugdnostalgie/Tekenfilms/Teknoman.php

Hi!

Can someone figure out what causes the bug in IE ?

When I open the page in Mozilla Firefox it
doesn’t show any problems but in Internet Explorer, the upper part of the page is way too low, is it just me or does that part jump downwards ?

When I delete most of the tags from the table in the bottom of the page (the one with the pictures) the bug is no more.

Thanks in advance.

@KDLAAug 10.2006 — When I looked at it, it was REALLY messed up in Fx, not IE.

You've got quite a few errors that need fixing:

@papiauthorAug 14.2006 — I also used a validator but it didn't show that many errors.

I 'll be working on that page today, trying to get rid of as many errors as possible.

Thanks for the help already, so far, you are the only one willing to!

@NeoGreenAug 15.2006 — I see that you fixed on IE and it looks great but when I tried it with FX I get I got an Error 404 that the server was not found.

I always get a warm-fuzzy when I see the "Firefox" abbreviated as the preferred "Fx" or "fx". -Anyone whom puts as much work into such a great product as Firefox (and FREE!) can call it whatever they want. And more specifically, we should call it whatever they want as well. (I just came from another Forum where some postees keep referrring to it as "Fiorefox" and "FirFox" and so-forth... GRR!)

From the Mozilla site:

http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/faq#spell-abbreviate

How do I spell Firefox? How do I abbreviate it?

Firefox is spelled F-i-r-e-f-o-x - only the first letter capitalized (i.e. not FireFox, not Foxfire, FoxFire or whatever else a number of folk seem to think it to be called.) The preferred abbreviation is "Fx" or "fx".
@drhowarddrfineAug 16.2006 — You will never get IE to look the same as modern browsers without a proper doctype. See my link below. Use html4.01 strict. Then validate and fix your code.

HA HA -- Actually, I checked into the abbreviation after seeing your usage of "Fx" in one of your posts. So, pat yourself on the back, WebJoel, you're making a difference! ?

@papiauthorAug 17.2006 — Whoa! How is it possible that, that page looks so different in firefox from mine!?

It looks like a lot of my code is depreciated so I will look into css and try it out. Thanks for your help so far, guys!

@papiauthorAug 19.2006 — I have reduced a lot of errors by using css and leaving out the coding in a php script. I have only kept this sofar.

I validated it and there are 5 more errors left, does anyone have an idea how to get rid of them ? Also, when viewing the page both in IE and FX (is this the correct abbreviation ? hehe) it gave me slightly (but annoyingly) different result in IE, especially the menu on the left and the table with the 6 pictures, which is still too low! What the hell ?! Any idea ?

@themanwhowasAug 19.2006 — looks ok in my fx browser. the problem with IE is that they do not conform to the W3c standard of html coding. as more and more people make pages specifically for IE microsoft corners a further share of the internet market as pages will not always work properly on both.

@papiauthorAug 22.2006 — I managed to fix the odd problem with the table being too low.

But according to w3, iframes are also deprecated ? Do you guys have an suggestion how to have the menu in a external file so that I don't need to change every page in case I want to change my menu ?

A different menu which suits the black background would also be fine.

Thanks for the help so far!
