HTML header include file?

I just moved this from the CSS forum. In case anyone here wants to help me with the object tag idea, or suggest that I get over my SSI/ASP/PHP procrastinations and point on the path of least resistance for universal portability and efficiency.

I’ve been trying to get off on the right path with cascading stylesheets used in various combinations by many pages, for efficiency, but I am unsure of it’s limitations. It seems there should be an easy straight foreward way to include all kinds of content, such as the header html code for image map definition, or the body code for repetative lists of images using those maps.

I think php would facilitate this after I get around to that phase of my self training, (and development environment), but it seems like the link or object tags should be enough. <object data=”filename”></object> doesn’t seem to work, and I haven’t figured out how to code it in text/css either.

Any suggestions?

@DaveSWJan 25.2005 — I'm not 100% sure I understand your question, but the way I'm reading it now, the answer is as follows: php asp and ssi have the ability to include content, css does not. css is intended to control your content layout. Does that help at all?

@WayTreaderauthorJan 25.2005 — Thanks for taking a shot at it. Yes, that helps, but not much. I suppose it is a question for the HTML forum rather than CSS, but I am still hoping to find a way to structure my html (similar to css)so that those image map area definitions and link specs could be shared by many pages (like an include file). It almost seems like the object tag would be used, if I only knew how to use the param element, but so far my IE6.0 doesn't understand me 100% either.
