The embed tag, or Embed External Content element, defines a container for an external resource, like a video, picture, web page, etc.


Use the various attributes to designate the dimensions and ingredients of the container.

Note: it is better to use the <img> tag for a picture, the <iframe> tag for HTML, and the <video> and <audio> tags to embed video or audio.

<embed type="video/webm" src="video.mp4" width="600" height="400">


Designates the height of the container.

Provides the URL that the external file lives at.

Designates the media type of the embedded content.

Designates the width of the container.
