Help to create new easily altered website

I am trying to create a new website for our gaming clan. Having previously only used html and a bit of Java I am completely lost with php programming. I have been able to get a news posting section for our main page, but wanted to create other pages that could be edited with ease.

Our members page format is what I’d like but I can’t quite work out how to make it so I can easily edit any of the Player profiles individually, does any one have any ideas for a novice.[url=http://www.flatface.net/~brentonb/Websites/DHL/members.php]New website members page[/url].

I also would like to create a clan war page that could be updated by simply posting the results and screenshot pic links and details of war which could then be formatted automatically so I ended up with something similar to our [url=http://www.geocities.com/deathsheadlegion2002/ClanWar.htm]Old website clan war page[/url].

I have access to Mysql on this web server, should I use that and php?

I greatly appreciate any help/advice that is given. As I said I am a complete noob to this but am very willing to learn. Thanks in advance.

@spufiDec 17.2002 — Do you have Server side includes? There is a book called PHP and MySQL Web Development you might want to check out. I haven't begun to weed through it just yet, but it might give you some ideas. Go to a book store and sit down and look through it and see if it's something you would be interested in.

clanadmin is some cgi scripts available from sourceforge.net.

doesnt do everything you want but it may satisfy some of your requirements.
