That took about ten seconds to crack.[/QUOTE] I believe for the demo he's not actually using a watermarked image, but using CSS to overlay the copyright image over the main background image.
It might help to avoid confusion to just use an actually watermarked image - or maybe one without and one with the watermark, sort of a before and after?

The unwatermarked image is shown first and then onmouseover the whole image is swapped to the image that has been watermarked by the GD library. Nogdog is right when he says it seems as if the copyright notice is overlaid over the source image but in reality it is not true, the whole image is being swopped.
Did anyone else have trouble understanding this is a before and after demonstration?
This system may not stop people stealing your images (what system could) but it does discourage people from linking to them remotely.
