Can I download PHP?

I want to be able to preview my PHP pages on my own computer before uploading them onto my website. Is there a way I can download something that will let me do that?

You'll also need to install a webserver, such as: http://httpd.apache.org/

@ShrineDesignsAug 15.2005 — i would recommend downloading/installing the "zip package", if you using a windows system, the "installer" one is a cgi version which isn't the best

@e-realmzauthorAug 15.2005 — Ok I tried to download PHP and Apache and now im lost in a new world. I don't know how to install any of it. Most of the icons are winamp files. I don't know anything about webservers.

I guess I should just stick to uploading regular html files to my site and converting them there. Thanks anyways.

@bokehAug 15.2005 — That's why I recommended a self installing package.

@ShrineDesignsAug 15.2005 — their not winamp files, they use the nullsoft installer

apache should be the easiest to install, make sure you set the domain to loaclhost or 127.0.0.1

install php is easy but requires have to do it manually, read and follow the install.txt provided with php

run the server: Start > Run - type"X:pathtoapacheapache.exe" -k start

@BeachSideAug 16.2005 — Blah to all of that... very complex for new people! I find it is better to have something working then you can go through and get an understanding of why it's working.

Check the link in my sig down there it is a post that will explain all you need to know for PHP, MySQL, etc... (Resources for PHP and MySQL)
