Adding Checkboxes

Hi there. I have been all over the place to find a javascipt for my needs. I have found many that have come close, but just not quite. Here is what I want. I want to be able to add the checked checkboxes to have a total box with the total of the #’s in it. Except I want to be able to rename the checkboxes so that when it is submited I can see exactly what is checked.
If I am unclear, please post me again.
