@_lt_Eddie_gt_Apr 01.2005 — Not personally but I know of someone who trialled it and said it's no substitute for a well laid out navigation system with a good statistical analysis tool. The idea is to track users and serve content according to their browsing prefs but how do you predict human behaviour online? If navigation is well structured, people wouldn't struggle to find products and have to rely on search making Fredhopper redundant.

@dvorstJul 07.2005 — I work for Fredhopper and I'm afraid Eddie is not correct with his description of Fredhopper. Fredhopper is not about "tracking users and serving content according to their browsing prefs".

Fredhopper is an advanced site search and merchandising product which includes search, multidimensional navigation, merchandising, reporting and a web-based interface to easily change configurations. The product is used by many of the largest e-commerce channels (e.g. www.kays.com, www.waitrosedeliver.com, www.philips.com and many more).

@sales_NavigatorJul 14.2005 — Why "advanced site search"?

What are the main features of this solution? Does it provide only search like Google or does it also allow "After Search Navigation" by product features like www.endeka.com and www.fact-finder.de?

What about the languages? Does it support e.g. french and german?

Some search results have questionable results. I tried Fredhopper at www.kays.com but i couldn't find any "Tshirts"...?! I just found 19 Items... and on top there is a "jacket" and some "slips"! ?

I'm sure there must be more than that available!

@dvorstAug 05.2005 — Dear sales_Navigator,

When I search for Tshirts on www.kays.com I find 317 results which can be refined by category, brand, price, etc. (After Search Navigation).

This multi-dimensional drill down functionality is one of many features that Fredhopper offers.

Regarding language support, Fredhopper supports more than 70 languages, including French and German. For example in Germany, www.conrad.de uses Fredhopper.

For more information, please contact XXXX

@sales_NavigatorAug 08.2005 — Alright! Good job dvorst... now it works for "Tshirts" but still has problems with variations like "mp3player" at www.kays.com or "apple i-pod" at www.conrad.de. ?

@workingOnSundayOct 14.2012 — Apologies, I know this is an old thread but I'm trying to find out if version 7 of Fredhopper will let me generate reports in XML. The aim would be to FTP these to maybe another server so that they could be ingested by another app. Does anyone know if this is possible and if so how difficult it is?

@bensharirDec 26.2013 — Yes, Frehopper or FAS (Fredhopper Access Server) will return an XML response to your query. These XML's most commonly used to generate the front end web pages but you may also use these XML in any other way you want. Contact your Fredhopper Professional Services eCommerce consultant for more info.
