What’s up with copyright on opensource?

Hey all!

I have a question I’ve been wondering about for a while now. If I go to a website that has opensource but it says you have to keep their comments and put a link to them on your site.. how picky is that?

I mean I went to a few websites that used a opencube menu but didn’t have a link to them on their site. I even found a site that had opencube menus but altered slightly downloable for free with no copyright.

I’m confused about the law. How can opensource by copyright?
