Table Problem

[COLOR=indigo]On the test page I am making I put in a simple table..1 row and 1 column.

In DW I made sure it did not have a bg color but when I preview it in IE it has a black background. Could this be because of a conflict in code?? I used DWs code for a table but used this: [I]<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC “-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN”
“http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd“>[/I]
to set the coding or whatever it is suppose to do….do I need to use different tags?[/COLOR]

style="background:transparent;"

or:

style="background:#fff;"
