    @the_treeDec 18.2004 — And I don't want to say anything agaisnt the counter.com, but the w3 is the w3.

    Nearly 20% is good but IE still has way too much.

    @LiLcRaZyFuZzYauthorDec 18.2004 — well...i also go for w3...as i dont know with which company the counter can be affiliated..:p

    no for reall....3% and 20%...one must be right....id prefer the w3 to be right!

    @pj59Dec 18.2004 — Hi!one must be right....id prefer the w3 to be right![/QUOTE]I'd say: they both are right. The figures are based on logs (which may vary from site to site of course). To get "real" figures and correct statistics, you would have to find out, how many users in the entire www browse with which browser and that is neither possible for the w3, nor "the counter", nor you or me...

    Regards PJ

    @steelersfan88Dec 18.2004 — I'm not going to go against the w3, but since the w3 preaches standards, and, generally speaking, ie users don't care (like ie), more mozilla users will go to w3, along with netscape, etc.

    thecounter does not preach anything but statistics. it would probably being a fairer number, and sounds much more reasonable.

    @Stephen_PhilbinDec 18.2004 — Regardless of which is right (I can't quite see it being the 20% just yet), I'm still astonished to see so many visitors to the W3C use IE. I would have been suprised if it was over 10%, but that's just ridiculous.

    @steelersfan88Dec 18.2004 — I was baffled seeing so many IE visitors according to the provided stats as well ...

    @Stephen_PhilbinDec 18.2004 — Probably all those "professional developers" that "encrypt the html source!" on every page they try to make.
    Copy linkTweet thisAlerts:
    @the_treeDec 18.2004 — I'm not entirely sure that the w3 stats use just the w3 sites.

    Plus there is a certain type of site that uses hit counters, so that isn't unbiased is it?

    @PoegleDec 18.2004 — Theres a admin of a forum that Mr Herer and I use, he will not accept that IE is crap, any post about Firefox he rips it, and theres the sheep that just follow him because hes the admin of the forum. And hes now got to the stage of locking threads that go onto a firefox debate, his last one saying:

    FFS.

    We're not having the whole firefox debate again.

    Firefox is crap. End of.

    And hes supposedly a pro at web dev...

    :rolleyes:

    @the_treeDec 18.2004 — LOL, wonder is he's ever used it?

    It is kind of scary though, that people are aware of other software but don't use it.

    @PeOfEoDec 18.2004 — I would trust the counter's number way before the w3. How the heck would the w3 know that browser %s? Did they do a simple random sample of the internet users? The counter has a very large sample group and can acuratly give you a number.

    @Stephen_PhilbinDec 18.2004 — I know I said I'd never even consider using ActiveX, but perhaps it could have a benificial use afterall. How does this swing in the banana tree with you guys?:

    Instead of using ActiveX to install a premium rate dialer, monitoring software, or fix someones home page to what you want, or any of the other common uses of ActiveX. What about using it to surreptitiously download and install Firefox to the users machine, then when it is in place, chop IE into tiny itty bitty pieces that all re-direct to firefox! ?
    Copy linkTweet thisAlerts:
    @PeOfEoDec 18.2004 — activex cant. But you can sneak a virus onto a users machine through activex that will do it.

    @LiLcRaZyFuZzYauthorDec 18.2004 — okay!what are we waiting for?!:p ?

    @PeOfEoDec 18.2004 — one of you lazy people to make it.
