Fading in Text

I am building a web page that centers to the screen no matter what resolution the viewer is using. the person I am building the page for wants it to have similar transition effects as those produced in Flash but I am not using Flash. i.e. images fading in and text fading in. Can someone tell me how to get text to fade in on a page using HTML or DHTML. I have tried using the DHTML effects (wipe, slide-in etc provided in Frontpage) but they seem to produce a layer that is stuck at a fixed co-ordinate on the page. This causes the text to become incorrectly aligned to the rest of the page whent the resolution of the screen is changed.

Is there any way of producing a ‘text fade-in’ that is placed in a cell of a table and therefore moves with the rest of the page when the resolution is changed.

Thanks in advance for anybody’s help.
