Javascript doesn’t work with mozilla

I have written a sourcecode with allows me to replace the selected text in a textarea
It already works on IE based systems very well, but it doesn’t want to work with mozilla!

Is there any opportunity to show the selected text of the textarea?

1 - there is a textarea named "text"

2 - there is a button

Now I'm searching for a Programm which changes the value of the textarea when someone clicks an the Button in the other window.
