What’s the difference between different ports?

So I use Atom, and I use a live server package.

I can launch the live server in different ports, from 3000 to 9000 (by increments of 1000).

What do these do and which one is the best? Thanks.

@NogDogMay 27.2019 — Ports in that range have no special meaning/purpose -- they can be used for whatever you want. Whichever one you pick is the port that application will listen on, so if you're trying to access it from your browser, you would add :3000 to the domain being used (or whichever port number you chose).
