non-developer thinks she has javascript problem?

please accept my apologies if i’m out of line for posting here but i’m not sure where else to turn.

i’m still running os 9 on my mac. as of 2 days ago, i’m not able to read any of my hotmail messages and i’m wondering if it has something to do with javascripts. when i hover over the hyperlinks that do not work, the hyperlink in the status bar always starts with “javascript:” yet all the hyperlinks that are non-javascript work. ?

all of the javascript options in IE are enabled. is there a program i can add/update to solve this or am i SOL with my ancient puter?
