Register soon to be expired domain

I’m looking for a recommendation for a domain register that will allow me to pre-register a soon to be expired .com domain name that will register it for me automatically within a matter of minutes from the time it becomes available.

I previously used crazydomains.co.uk to do this with another domain and the domain expired but crazy domains did not register it for me automatically even though I paid them in advance to do so. The catch was that I would not be refunded if they failed to register it for me. I had to contact them when the domain was available to be registered and ask them to do it and luckily nobody registered it in the full day that they failed to register it for me so I won’t be using them again.

@Douglas_WilliamFeb 08.2017 — Hi IrishRover,

That almost sounds to good to be true - pre-register to register a domain that is about to expire.

I would believe that if one knows (is aware of) the date of expiration (and the following date of release of that domain name) that the one would be concentrated enough to be there for in person. I might be wrong in my logic here but what is the sense of paying someone to do what one can be expected to do for oneself. It seems to me that if it is important enough for "the one" to achieve a result (easily obtainable) why would not "the on"e do it instead of relying on "some other measure else" to obtain it for "the one". ... I love to hear time is money ...

@NogDogFeb 08.2017 — I've only personally used one hosting service for personal stuff, who also handle domain name registration. They have the option to configure a domain to be auto-renewed (using your profile's billing data). If not, you get an email from them asking if you want to renew or not, about a month before it's due to expire. I would assume most other services do something similar. As to why that particular service you used did not successfully do it, you would have to ask them. (shrug?)

@IrishRoverauthorFeb 08.2017 — Well its because they have bad customer service and may just be a bad company and someone else currently owns the domain so auto renew is not an option for me but the expiry date is in 2 weeks and I would like to maximize my chances of securing the domain if it drops so I'm not ready to shrug just yet?

@morris_wmApr 05.2017 — Hi IrishRover, I've not seen anything like this on expiring domains - only on soon to be released (i.e. new) domains.

Maybe there's a business opportunity there for you? ;-)

In all seriousness, it sounds like a great idea - I'm not sure how long after the original owner has from expiry to renew a domain. I still have one in my account that expired 4 months ago, and it's saying I can still renew it. Whether it's available for anyone else to buy or not, I'm not sure.
