Beginner looking for advice

Hi There, Apologies on hijacking the post but I am also just starting, literally from scratch and would like to learn web development/design.
I was hoping I could be directed to an appropriate forum for beginners to communicate with etc. I am using the codecademy as well.
Thanks.

@tonytaylorFeb 25.2016 — Depending on how much work you're looking to put in, I would say udemy has a few free beginner tutorials.

There's also http://it-ebooks.info/ ... loads of great material.

@jedaisoulFeb 26.2016 — Hi and welcome to the site. Please do not hijack other peoples' threads. I've moved your post (and a reply) to this new thread, and I hope you will get a good response.

We do not have a "beginner's forum", and I do not think it would be a good idea anyway. Why? Because we are all beginners at something (well I am). The idea of classified forums is to group related queries together. The fact is, they tend to get a better response that way.

Oh, and the best advice I can give you is, unless you are intending to specialize in back-end development, you should learn how to code responsive web pages from the start. Unfortunately, a lot of beginner guides may be out-of-date in this respect and start out showing you how to code traditional fixed width pages. As it happens, I champion a variant of responsive design, which I call "step responsive", which is basically a series of three or so fixed width designs linked by media queries. However, the main-stream of responsive design is "fluid responsive" and even I would acknowledge that you should learn that first!
