Google Bowling is the process of promoting competitor website in order to make it with full of spamming links, so that their website will automatically penalized Google. This is the most dangerous part of business world. so every business owners should be aware of this technique and continuously watching our backlink is very important for protecting our website from penalty.

Then it doesn't matter what the links are or where they go, the search engines ignore them.

Just say that i running a business and my competitor building a spammy backlink to my website and I'm unaware of this issue means it will cause severe damage to my business website in search result. That's what known as Google bowling.

For protecting from this issues we have to constantly watch our websites backlinks and if we felt something irrelevant we have to disavow those links using Google web master tools.

You made a great point. But I think Google's algorithm is getting better and better. And they are learning to avoid these spam links without minimum damage to the original website.

Also it's now easy for webmaster to track the backlinks of a website.
