Hey I am new?b i e

Hi all, as you can see I am quite new here. Well I was just browsing around the pages and it already feels like home.. Anyways long story short I’m a 16 year old student in Toronto, Ontario Canada (Blame Canada) and I’ve been building sites for around 4 years now. Done some for people, some small companys and schools. I do stuff mainly in HTML. I am thinking about being a pro web developer so anyone out there that can give me some tips? Fun carrer? Good pay? etc. Also I want to improve my skills and want to learn the following:
JavaScript
XHTML
any other suggestions that are good lang. to learn and are useable?

Last question is that I code in Notepad but really annoyed that I must save and open a new broswer / refresh to view my edits. Does anyone know of any program that will give me the flexibility of Notepad but has a quick view function similar to that in Frontpage ( =S ).

Sorry to bombare everyone with questions. Have a beer (gives beer).

@rhsundergroundMar 09.2004 — dreamweaver lets you switch back and forth between <script> view and layout view, or a version with a bit of both, but is most expensive. i'll let somebody else tell you where to learn, for they know better.

@Daniel_TMar 09.2004 — Welcome to the forums!!!

Well to start you off, you'll need a real browser: http://www.mozilla.com/products/firefox/

Second, as far as development software goes, I really like DreamWeaver. You can download a trial version at that link.

Third, the pay isn't great unless you have people you know who need a website. After all, most people are more likely to get an adult to do it, rather than a 16-year-old.

Fourth, if you want to start a career in web design, you'll need to learn some sort of server-side language, such as PHP. You will need this when you want to have an E-commerce section or a similar function on your websites.

As for learning JavaScript and XHTML, you can go here: W3 Schools

And lastly, NEVER BLAME CANADA!!!?

@StealthBoiauthorMar 09.2004 — Wow Thanks DanieLTomaS for the info! I think I'll try out Dreamweaver, of course I will get the fully license version ???

I was just looking at "W3 Schools" thanx a lot. Hey I noticed the have certification courses. Does a toilet paper with your name on it really mean anything? If not I don't think I'm going to waste the little money I have.

@steelersfan88Mar 09.2004 — if you want to make more money off programming, you'd wanna hit the peak languages while their "hot", such as C, C++, and java. Those are the languages that at least you can't get paid well in.
