Color variations

I found this website while surfing the web. It offers some good color variations for webpages:

The thing is, that some color variations, like light pastels, dark pastels, pale, that you will find sort of confuse me, for lack of a better word.

What kind of website deserves a pale color scheme? A business website? A clinic’s website?

What about dark pastels? Would that be suitable for a heavy metal music page? Maybe a horror writer’s website.

I guess the contrast variation would be perfect for a blog, or page about gossip.

What do people think?

@KDLAJun 19.2006 — It's really not the colors you choose for the website, it's how you use them. Do a Google search for color psychology, or visit the Wikipedia's entries on color: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_theory and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_psychology.

Best way to learn about color is to take home an art book and study the color combinations of the masters.

As to other color resources, check out my signature.
