close window before php code has finisihed running

I’m working on web application using PHP
what I need is after the user fulls in a form and submits it, the receiving PHP page closes the window before continuing with its processing on the server. its a bulk mailing system and sending 10 emails takes some time as my development area has email scanning, as you can guess I’m presented with a blank page until the email is processed and sent
as this would look like theres nothing happening to the average user and they are able to close the window with no ill efect on the code, I’d like the window to close itself as after the mail’s been sent its no longer needed

can anyone help?

@SamFeb 09.2004 — I don't think this can be done, php stands for pre hypertext processor, so it has to do all the processing before it can do anything on the enduser side. Correct me if I'm wrong
