@oliviacisOct 26.2012 — SEO has traditionally divided into two main areas; on-page optimisation which covers what can be done on the pages of the website itself, and off-page optimisation which covers activity that takes place elsewhere. On Page Optimization refers to optimization of a website page with regard to the content, text and name. It is carried out so that a website can get a higher ranking.

@kasnakeDec 19.2012 — On page optimization consists of the following process, used with the right web tools, on page optimization can get you a higher ranking such as www.webtoolson.com, a site that has been fully on page optimized, that consists of great web tools under several categories where one can also avail of a no cost web site.

Choose Keyword Phrases

Consider the page's content, and identify 2 or 3 keyword phrases (see long tail keyword strategy) that are most relevant to the page content. One of these phrases will be your primary keyword, and the other(s) will be secondary keywords.

Page Title

Your page title will appear as blue, bolded, underlined text in the Google search results, and at the top of your browser bar. Make sure your page title follows these guidelines:

Be under 70 characters and include your primary keyword

If you use more than one keyword in the page title, the primary one should appear first and each keyword should be separated from the other by the pipe (|).

Every page title on your website and blog should be unique.

Except for your home page and contact us page, each page title should NOT include your business name.

Meta Description

The meta description appears in the Google search results under the page title.

URL

The website's page URL should include the primary keyword. Each word in the URL after the domain name should be separated with hyphens.

Headings

The page should have exactly one Heading 1 tag that incorporates the primary keyword. Usually this is done as the title of the page.

Page Content

Use your primary keyword a few times throughout the page/blog content, mentioning it naturally.

Add a Call to Action

Every website page and blog post should have at least one call to action above the page fold (so it can be seen without scrolling down).

Internal Links

If you mention the primary keyword of this page on other pages/posts in your website (and you should), use this "anchor text" to link to the page. Make sure you have at least 1 or 2 internal links on each page/post.

Optimizing Images

All images used on the page should be optimized to the search enginces can "read" each image.
