Hello Friends
I am not a experienced webmaster.I need your suggestions on the
following
I made a website about 70-90 days ago and hosted for free on yahoo
service.Even after so many days Google page rank for my homepage is just
4/10 .how can i improve my pagerank to 10/10 so that my website appears on first 10
results
Your suggestions will be greatly welcomed.

@Aronya1May 26.2004 — Hopefully, others will chime in here with more, but to raise your ratings, you need to:

Add a DOCTYPE statement.

Switch from tables-based layout to CSS. Hang out in the CSS forum here. Take a look at your code. It's 90% table markup & 10% content.

Either switch to some other HTML editor, or manually clean up the sloppy code from FrontPage.

Make your keywords more relevant to the content of your page. Also, be sure you have them spelled correctly, unless the mis-spelling is intentional.

But i don't know anything about style sheets,Can they do same thing which i have done with tables.earlier i was using frames but some one said to use tables .

What about changing FrontPage editor to Dreamweaver is it good?

@Aronya1May 26.2004 — Dreamweaver is much better, but coding purists will say that you shouldn't use any WYSIWYG editor. I use DW myself. You really need to start at the beginning. Once you can hand code HTML, then you will be able to look at the code generated by DreamWeaver or FrontPage, see what needs to be changed [b]and know how to change it.[/b]

CSS is a method of assigning style properties (like fonts, their sizes, alignments, margins, etc.) to a web page, without having to put that information [b]on[/b] the page. Hang around in the CSS forum. Follow the links people give. Ask questions. Experiment with your web pages. You'll eventually pick it up. We're all here to learn from each other.
