Importing data from XLS to SQL

hey folks. perhaps someone’s done this before…
I have quite a [url=http://www.cyc.co.uk/Tide04.xls]big xls[/url], and all the information in it, needs to be imported into a mysql database. is there a way to do this?
i use phpmyadmin as the sql editor, and it gives you an import option – but excel doesn’t export the data in the right format to be imported by phpmyadmin.

have you any experience doing this? any pointers to give?

@crh3675Jan 23.2004 — You will need to modify the file to have only column headers and data. Export the file as a comma-separated-value file (.csv).
