Is Code Hacks Better Or Custom Joomla Development?

I was recently reading a blog [URL=”http://www.joomladesignservices.com/685-what-is-a-hack-and-when-is-it-useful.html”] about code hacks vs custom Joomla development of extensions [/URL].

So I was pondering which is better. I find making packaged extension for Joomla much better. But would require substantial Information on this. Kindly help!

@spufiDec 30.2011 — I think the article handles the question rather well. If you need something quick and dirty to get the job done, a hack will work. Normally, it's better to avoid hacks and just use extensions to handle the issue. I would compare it similar to using inline CSS vs. external CSS. Ideally you want it all external, but there might be a need to make something inline as a quick fix.
