stretchable image backgrounds?

looking for a way to make a background image in a td stretch as cell size changes. The page i am working on will have the same horazontal langths at all times but verticle could be changed from page to page. I would like to be able to view the entire image no matter what the size of the cell is.

  • 1. is this possible?

  • 2. looking for keywords that might be helpful

  • 3. links and code would be appreciated.
