Access, and displaying contents of, network folders

Hi,

Being fairly new to JavaScript, i’m not even sure if this is possible in which case i’ll have to look at some other alternative.

However, basically what i want to do is to be able to ‘look’ at a network folder, and create hyperlinks based on the content (mainly pdf documents). I also only want to display those documents that are prefixed correctly. Can this be done, and if so could you give me a hand.

Many thanks,

Gary

@phpnoviceJun 08.2006 — Without very special considerations -- of which, there are many... JavaScript cannot handle this by itself. At least some server-side changes must be made and, possibly, some server-side code written in order to pass this informaiton to JavaScript. However, even then, what about the possibility that JavaScript may be totally disabled? Thus, with all due consideration, you would be much better off to create a totally server-side solution for the described and desired end result.
