My First Webpage (HTML+CSS+JS)

Hi guys. Just wanted to show my web page (not complete as of yet). I will post the website link as soon as i am finished fixing some issues with IE(as always).

Also the banner on top is js powered slide show banner that uses three images and fading in & out transitions.? I had a pretty tough time getting it to work .

Since here we have a lot of experienced and intelligent guys please give me some feedback regarding the design and color.

People tend to read online texts from top to bottom, that's why most templates are based on one or two side menus (which get lesser focus) and the central column that is used for the raw information.

I would suggest re-thinking the horizontal placement of elements, considering where the focus should be targeted at.
