Cant connect to Oracle

I am attempting to connect to Oracle 9i using PHP 5.2.6

I keep getting error message using oci_connect() or OCILogon().
Both give me the same message when I attempt to connect:
[b]Fatal error: Call to undefined function oci_connect() in unixServerdirdbConnection.php on line 10[/b]

Please advise how I can get the Oracle connection working. I am not a server admin and only have permissions to the Apache files in the directory where my php files are located.

Oracle OCI libraries need to be installed. This you need to check with your DBA as I think those libraries need pay monies or is free when you pay for Oracle already.
