How do I display an rss feed in my site?

Hi all,

If I create an rss feed, for example with Yahoo Pipes; how can I display that feed in a website, preferably so I can customize the styling of that feed?

Could somebody please point me in the right direction? The site’s that I have read and google’d about this are mis-informative and/or broken..

Many thanks in advance.?

Tony.

@ttbarnesauthorMay 24.2010 — Thank you for the response Charles, most apperciated.

However I should have mentioned that I want to display an external rss feed in my site, for example from the bbc news.

Any pointers in the right direction would be greatfully recieved. ?

@SodascriptJun 10.2010 — Let us know if you still need help with this, I kid you not a tutorial I looked at a couple days ago had the code for EXACTLY this.

Not just an rss feed from an external side inside a div, but one you could drag around inside a grid. It used 3-4 feeds simultaneously as an example.

I'm sure you could just copy the code, i'll find the link if you still need it.

@Jarrod1937Jun 10.2010 — If you're a php developer lookup magpie rss. Very easy to install and use and comes with its own caching for the feed.

@ttbarnesauthorJun 12.2010 — Thank you Jarrod. I'm not a PHP developer, but I will certainly look into this. ?

@ttbarnesauthorJun 12.2010 — Hi guys,

Thanks for all of your help. Most of the links that you've all posted are for displaying xml files. They're brilliant, i've learnt a lot from them.

However, all I want to do is display an external rss feed/xml file, for example from the bbc news. Therefor, I wouldn't need to manually create & update the xml file..

I've been looking at lots of rss reader widgets, they all have limited customization and logos everywhere so I think that creating one from scratch will be the best thing to do.

FYI - After I have an rss reader, i'm going to make this a 'ticker', so that it's just one line of text / one post. Also, i'm going to find / make a script that will slide in the next post after x seconds.

I'm just starting out with Javascript and I haven't used rss readers in a site before.. My apologies for the amount of questions.

Best,

Tony
