Need inventory management tools / cart script – Newbie!

Hello all:

I need a recommendation for a script(s) that can do the following:

Management side:
*Enter and modify unique inventory items (each one has it’s own serial number), from several user account.
*Change products availability (although once sold, automatically take it off the view inventory, but keep internal records stored for date of sale, amount and etc).

Customer side:
*View inventory item (list/detail view) with pictures
*Payment through Paypal, Credit Card Authorization
*Create “cart”

We are a new start-up, and like all start-ups, have a very limited budget. We plan on using the services of a web developer in the future, but for now we will have to rely on what the web development community can offer us.

Hosting, registration, any software recommendations are welcome!

We do not have a website, nor any idea on which way to start. Any idea/comment is welcome.
