hyperlink within DIV

Hi all,

I just set up a page to test, if I can have a hyperlink which points to his own DIV.

Just to understand, what I try to do…I am wondering how to get a navigation on the top and a two-row design in the middle where some hyperlinks are pointing to another sites. If I click on a link, I do not want to have the navigation reloaded (why should I have to, nothing changes to it…).

What I tried is something like that:

<div id=”leftSide”>
<a href=”test2.html” target=”_leftSide”>link</a>
</div>

I would like to have the page “test2.html” opened within the <DIV> “leftSide”. Is there a possibility to do that???

Thanks a lot,
texter01

@FangMar 02.2010 — Another document can be opened in a (i)frame or object element, not in a div.

@texter01authorMar 03.2010 — Thanks...but, what I trying to sort out is, if I have a navigaion on top of the side and I'm clicking on one link from the navigation, the whole side has to be reloaded. Is this correct, or do I have the chance, that only the <DIV>, where the content of the expected side (which is loaded by clicking on the link of the navigation) is shown, is refreshed or new loaded?

@FangMar 03.2010 — It can be done with a (i)frame or object element, in a div, or Ajax, but it is much better to use a server-side solution.

@texter01authorMar 03.2010 — OK, I know the include-"solution"...but I HAVE to reload the navigation each time I click on a link...is this correct???

@texter01authorMar 03.2010 — Not really, it's just...in the past you had frames, and you could change or refresh just the part of the page, you need to change. The rest didn't had to be reloaded. In my eyes, this was an advantage of frames compared to CSS-design.

@criterion9Mar 03.2010 — Use AJAX if you only want to grab/load part of a page.
