hypenated urls

hi there – i have a site [url]www.domainname.com[/url] which i have been advised to purchase several hyphenated urls to point to for seo purposes…

these urls are keyword related:

[url]www.keyword-a.com[/url]
[url]www.keyword-b.com[/url]
[url]www.keyword-c.com[/url] and so on…

the aim is to set up sub-pages of [url]www.domainname.com[/url] and have [url]www.keyword-x.com[/url] point to one of these pages to improve seo for these pages.

i.e. [url]www.domainname.com/keyword-a/[/url] has [url]www.keyword-a.com[/url] redirected to it.

what i need to know is…

i need as much help as possible because i have spent some money on this advice!

one of my friends has this set up and it works for one of his urls in google, but im not quite sure if his main domain is affected by this…
