Need an application for opinion articles

Hi guys, so in a nutshell I’m running a psudo news site, and I’d like a way for anonymous users to be able to write opinion articles and have them posted on my front page. I’d then like it if other users would have the ability to comment on these artices, post responses, or view old articles etc. Honestly, just using a forum application might work, however I think it would be tricky to get my homepage to show the most recent forum post, and I think really what I’m looking for is sort of a blog that anonymous users can post to. (not just comment)

Does an application like this even exist? I’ve tried googling but I’m afraid I’m just not sure what words to search for. So far I haven’t really found anything close to what I’m looking for.

Any help would be awesome. Thanks!

@NogDogApr 22.2009 — Maybe a blog? I know WordPress has multiple levels of user roles. You could configure it to assign all new user accounts as "Author" roles, which will allow them to add articles, plus comment on articles as all users normally can.
