Installing Apache

I’ve been trying to instal apache but i had a lot of problems. Now i’ve finally managed to get it running but i still don’t think it’s working properly. I’ve got it to start up after i had to clear port 80 but when i type [url]http://localhost[/url] into the brower nothing comes up. Any idea why it wouldn’t? I’ve installed it into the default directory it came up with

@scragarApr 15.2009 — You are going to have to give a lot more information than that.

What operating system are you using?

Where did you install apache from(lot's of packages out there with different modules pre-installed...)?

Have you tried restarting apache?

What about making sure the .html/whatever files are in the right place?

And this thread should be in Server Management, not PHP.

@Steve25authorApr 15.2009 — Apologies for putting this in PHP i was installing Apache to use with PHP so i assumed people would know about installing Apache.

My operaitng system is Vista Ultimate, I got the installation file from the Apache site version 2.2.11 and yeah i've tried restarting apache and restarting the pc
