Site not being indexed

Hello, I have updated a website to include the new pages at a different address (still the same domain, still the same hosting) and copied over all the old meta tags from the old website, but the new German section is not showing up in the search engine. What is preventing it from being indexed, or why won’t it show when I search using the keywords?

I’m pretty sure the site has already been up around somewhere from one to two weeks.

Here is the page:

@svidgenApr 06.2009 — A significant portion of your site has been indexed by Google (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=site%3Amanatee-group.com&btnG=Search). The top hit shows that the last crawl/cache of the main page happened about a week ago (30th).

If your German version hasn't been up for more than 2 weeks, I wouldn't expect it to have necessarily been cached yet. However, I also noticed that your English and German versions are identical. Google may be intentionally skipping the duplicate content. In fact, will probably even penalize the pagerank of your entire site until the duplicate content is removed/changed.

@Wolfe26authorApr 07.2009 — My employer wanted the German site to basically mirror the US one (Web design wasn't really what I was hired for and I'm a bit new to web design). What can I do to get those pages to index without spending too much time? How much do I have to change? I only have a few days left as I am leaving this company.

@svidgenApr 07.2009 — Uhh ... well, when I checked, both versions appeared to be identical, having both the English and German. So ... don't do that. If you have German and English versions of the site, there should be something different between the two ... maybe change the language or something.

@Wolfe26authorApr 07.2009 — Ok, so you were just talking about the index page, right? I might be able to do that, but what about all the other pages that are linked to the top menu on the DE page that already have been translated to German?

@svidgenApr 07.2009 — Unless you have a robots.txt file specifically instructing bots to ignore portions of your site, it will be indexed. Give it more than a couple weeks tho, and make sure you get your site into some web directories, bookmarking sites, etc.

@Nickfb76Apr 07.2009 — If you are truelly leaving the company in a couple days then there probably nothing you can do before you leave. search engine spiders crawl sites whenever they want, its nota set schedule. For the duplicate content... definently switch up the wording and maybe add different title tags, pictures... basically make it completely different while conveying the same message as the original site.

Submit your site into our web directory logyourlink.com. It will fall into categories "spa", "country clubs", etc. which are relevant to your content.

It is free now and your site will be indexed in a week, you'll see it using our backlink checker.
