question on xml sitemaps

Hi everyone..

I noticed that most of sitemap makers add those tags

<changefreq></changefreq> and <priority></priority>

are they important? what If I don’t use them and just write it like that

<url>
<loc>url</loc>
</url>

is there any other important tags?

If you take a look at : https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/docs/en/sitemap-generator.html

You'll see that these are optional

@CharlesMar 12.2009 — Play with the priority if Google gets you pages in the wrong order. It's a good idea to specify either a changefreq or a lastmod for each entry.
