question about bloggin practice

Hi.

Can i have someones opinion on this?….

I have a site. I want to setup an associated blog or a duplicate site with a collection of rss feeds and a few paragraphs of fresh content. Then i want to go out and exchange links. Would it be advisable, when exchanging links to have all reciprical links coming from the blog/duplicate site and all inbound links pointing to my main site? Obviously the blog or site will need to be a quality blog for other sites to want to link to it. Is this a good or bad thing do you think?

@gbonnetFeb 20.2009 — if you're writing a blog with duplicate content that's not very useful since Google penalise duplicate content.

You'd better spend your time adding good content on your site, you'll get a better return.

@ssbeatsauthorFeb 20.2009 — ok sorry. i guess i didnt make it clear. im not planning on duplicating content. i was thinking about duplicating the site in terms of design but have "fresh content".

Ive decided against this idea anway.

This is the best way to do it. If they like it they will link to it and copy it. On that note you can use a service like Tynt Tracer to determine what content is popular to base other articles and content on. Plus it helps you get link backs.
