I am using Google’s Custom Search on my site.

I have also used span tags so if a user hovers over eg IP they see Internet Protocol.

Does anyone know whether search engines such as Google takes into account content in span tags or whether it is ignored?

Separately, does anyone know:

whether Google’s Custom Search does not pick up your sites content under after a spider trawls it, which may be days after you update the site as I believe is the case with the standard Google search.. or is it different? (basis behind the question is that when I do a search of a term I know is on one of my web pages nothing is found).

@KDLANov 25.2008 — You're coding that improperly. You should use the abbreviation or acronym tag.

These are indexed by search engines.

I don't understand your second question -- are you asking whether or not your Google custom search is reliant upon the normal Google spider? If so, I believe it does. (But don't quote me on that ? )

@LEGO-MafiaauthorNov 25.2008 — Very interesting - thanks for the reply.

So I probably should be using the acronym tag.

Yes you interrupted my second Q rightly, ok so that's what I suspected/hope too.

Thanks a lot!

edit: o one thing, I tried both of these tags but the cause lil annoying dots (...) to appear under the relevant words - any way of not having the dots showing?
