I really wanted to learn php for I want to program my own site but I don’t have a formal learning or traring with regards to programming. I know a little html enough to maintain my blog.
Do I reall need to master HTML before learning Php?
@TJ111Jun 23.2008 — #You definitely have a very solid knowledge of HTML (and CSS) before you start learning how to program in PHP. While it's not required, most basic uses of PHP are to generate HTML, and to be able to do that you need to know HTML.
@NogDogJun 23.2008 — #I'll disagree slightly: you do not need a very solid HTML/CSS knowledge to start learning PHP. However, by the time you are ready to start putting the PHP that you learn to practical use in any sort of web application, you also need to have acquired sufficient HTML/CSS knowledge in order to have your PHP output valid HTML text that displays the way you want it to.
Or to put it a bit more succinctly: any deficiency of knowledge in either area will limit what you can do with the combination of the two.
