Need subscription membership scheme code.

I need some PHP code where I can have subscribed users.

The users will all pay to be members of the service provided.
The code should be very sophiticated and track payments and stop or delete users who don’t renew etc.

Can someone recommend systems to do this?

Ideally: I’d like Open Source.

I’ve played around with Joomla and know that there are systems that you can just plugin. Some are free and some are one off payments.

What I want is something standalone that I can adapt for my own use.
