Dynamic Page Resize

Hey guys,

I apologize if this has been asked before but I searched resize and got 300+ hits.

I am developing a page that must (according to my boss) be dynamically resizable. I’m not talking about a single image but the whole page, background, flash, images, text and all. Not my decision and IMHO not a great idea but he’s the boss. So, how do I create a dynamically resizable page. I know it can be done because I’ve asked around and know it’s more of a pain than it is worth. But hey I get paid by the hour so who cares. Right?!

Page is being created in 1024 x 768 so should be decent looking in most resolutions unless you go wide screen or something on the order of 2500 x 1900. I’m developing mostly in flash so the vector graphics should scale without too much artifacting.

I need this as soon as possible so if you have a link or a spare few seconds I’d appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.
Bill

@mrhooMar 19.2008 — Web pages are dynamically resizable by default-

if you are creating a page with elements that have absolute or fixed sizes,

then you are breaking the normal behavior of the user agent,

which is to reflow the page to fit the window or screen.

Have you looked into flexible or liquid layouts?

I would have gotten back here earlier but I couldn't log in yesterday. Anyway...

Unfortunately all pages are not dynamically re-sizable by nature. I have a flash banner with buttons that is comming along and have had limited success with FlashFit. But I can't get the banner to stick to the top of the page.

Using HTML scale 100% will cut off the buttons unless care is taken to scale the page.

@mrhoo

Flash will not dynamically scale and neither will images. When the user resizes the page it may stack items and break up text lines which is a big NO NO with product development. It must look as is, no matter the scale, on the web as it does in print.
