Without going into too much detail, basically what I’m trying to achieve is a system where a contracting company can have their customers submit work orders, check on paid and unpaid invoices, and make payments on the invoices through the sites.
Now, with my VERY basic knowledge of how this all works from my time making websites back in 2003 I know I’m going to need a database the site is going to input and pull data from, have it all be secured, and possibly have some way to integrate it with quickbooks for automatic payment (but that can wait until later). What I don’t know how to do is, well, all of it.
Is there any reasources I should be focusing on? Particulary pertaining to databases/creating and using unique usernames, etc etc. Should I be using php/mysql or some other combination? Should I write the code from scratch or use web development tools like dreameaver (I recall the code being much cleaner done myself, but I have no idea how much those tools have evolved in 5 years)? And finally probably the most pertinent question: how long will this take me working on it full time, this includes the code learning process (I learn very quickly)?
