Enabling users to change text and other content on web pages.

Hi all

I am building a website for a friend. Once complete, he wants to be able to make daily updates to the text and maybe even add a few extra links and pages. I would be very interested to hear any suggestions as to how you would do this.

A. Would you use a content management system? If so, which would you you recommend. Obviously an open source one would be best to keep costs down if possible.

B. Would you write a web app to achieve this? The interface could be written with JSP and the content could be held in an updateable XML file i.e. this solution is basically writing your own CMS.

C. Is there a simple way that this can be achieved using JavaScript/Ajax?

D. Any other suggestions?

Other options include Contribute or Word Press.

@Major_PayneAug 24.2007 — Enabling users to change text and other content on web pages.[/QUOTE] is the help title. Will more then one person be changing text, links and/or pages? If just one person and, since you asked for an easy way, I would set the site up to use Server Side Includes (SSI).

Usually, SSI is very good for updating same information on multiple pages at one time just by editing one page (adding/removing nav links for one).
