Linking to website saved on computer

Hi guys,

I just began learning how to make websites. My question is: How do I make a link to a website saved on my computer?

For example, I already have a website created on my computer (lets call it “Web1”, under D:websiteWeb1.htm). Lets say I saved www.cnn.com to my computer under the name, “CNN” (under D:websiteCNN.htm). I want to create a link in “Web1” that will open up the “CNN” I saved on my computer.

I know that if I just wanted to link to the actual CNN website the code is:
<a href=”http://www.cnn.com/”>CNN</a>

But what is the code to link to the “CNN” saved on my computer?

Thanks for the help in advance.

@ray326Jun 14.2007 — In your browser do a File/Open file..., pick the index page of that saved site and then look at the location bar. It should be something like this if you're on Windows.

file:///D:/Downloads/FunBus.gif
