Help! what’s my Apache URL ??

Hi all,

I recently downloaded apache along with the whole xaamp for windows … and installed it.

It is working properly and I’ve been creating and saving web pages in the Htdocs folder, which I then access through “localhost”.

My question is what URL do I use (or how do I find out the URL) to remote access my saved work from a different computer … ??

@Stephen_PhilbinApr 17.2007 — It's the IP address of your computer on the internet. Just put http:// and then the IP address of your computer in a browser and it will bring up the document root of your http server (assuming you've configured it correctly and it's running that is of course).

does the fact that I'm on a wireless LAN network matter ... the ISP provides us with a generic IP address that is used by all their customers.

Any ideas how I could identify my computer's own IP address

@Stephen_PhilbinApr 17.2007 — Oh if you're on a LAN then you'll need to tell your router to forward incoming traffic on port 80 (and 443 if you're using SSL/TLS) to the LAN IP of your computer too.

The option to do this is usually called something like "port forwarding". You'll also need to make sure that port 80 is open in your firewall settings too. Good luck! ?
