request.getparameter

I am unable to retrieve the whole text(e.g process compliances ) from the textbox’s in our jsp pages by using [B]request.getParameter [/B]in our java servlets .I am able to get only the first word (e.g process) but not the whole string (process compliances).
what should i do….
plz help.
