PHP or asp.net?

Which is more useful to learn?

I heard PHP/ with MySQL is the most popular…

but then heard that asp.net with C+ is more functional diverse

@ryanbutlerFeb 02.2007 — This is similar to the retarded debate regarding, "tables are better than css." You're comparing apples to oranges. While PHP and ASP.NET do the same thing, they take different approaches. The former will be easier to pick up but the latter is a little more robust at times with the built in classes and name spaces. If you work for a company which uses UNIX, then PHP it is, vice versa if its Windows.

If you work for yourself, do research on your own and come to a reasonable conclusion.

@ray326Feb 02.2007 — PHP is much easier to learn, being more like the original ASP in functionality. ASP.NET is more like J2EE but with a lot fewer varieties of application frameworks to learn.
