why doesnt html recognise .psd files?

@CrazyGazJul 19.2003 — it isn't HTML that doesn't recognize the file format, it is the browser. if I am correct then a PSD file is adobe photoshop. there is no way to make the browser recognise a file...unless you write your own browser which seems a lot of effort for such a minor problem.

@dennicauthorJul 19.2003 — the only way other extension i can convert this file to is a tiff file or a raw file, why cant i convert the file to a jpg? i know im off the track a bit and its probably a worthy question in a photoshop forum, but if anyone can help me i would be real appreciative.

@CrazyGazJul 19.2003 — well I don't know much about photoshop but what you could do if you have the XP version of paint or microsoft photo editor.

Export it from photoshop as a .TIF and then open it in Paint/photo editor, and then save it as a JPG from there.

@spufiJul 19.2003 — Within Photoshop there is an option to save a file for the web. By doing this it will convert the file to a .gif file by default.
